The health department requires the following for everyone getting any piercing procedures done, including minors. These are the health departments rules, so they apply to all piercing studios in Colorado, not just us.
Minors need some form of photo ID and birth certificate. Some forms of ID that work are school ID, state ID, drivers license, drivers permit, and passport. The parent signing for them must also have ID and be on the minors birth certificate. If a legal guardian is signing for a minor, they also need ID as well as paperwork from a court stating that they are their legal guardian (only court appointed guardianship papers will work for legal guardians). If the minor is 12 years old or under and getting their earlobes pierced, they do not need a photo ID (birth certificate is still required).
We are required by law to keep a copy of these with the paperwork of the person getting pierced. If you are missing any of the above, we cannot provide piercing services.
For simple jewelry changes, parents and legal guardians do not need to be present and ID’s are not required. The exceptions to this is if the piercing needs to be stretched, the jewelry is embedded, or if the piercing is a nipple or a “below the blet” piercing (we will only handle nipple and “below the belt” piercings on people 18+).
